I noticed a website called Canoodle.com that I’ve never seen before.  I checked it out and it looked decent.  You basically make a profile and start browsing singles in your area just like you would on any other online dating website.  Here’s what I found.

Canoodle.com is basically a front page for several other online dating sites.  After I made my profile, I ran search for singles in my area.  There were about 3 pages which isn’t too bad for the exact city match, and not nearby cities.  Now once you click another members dating profile, you’re taken to the website they really are on.  For example, you’re on Canoodle, and click on Ashley009.  You are then redirected to Ashley009′s profile on Flirt.com, or Cupid.com, or BeNaughty.com.  I’m not sure how many other online dating websites are linked to Canoodle, but there definitely are quite a few.

Now this could be good, could be bad.  Depends on the member.  I personally would not want to have to keep changing dating sites to view other singles I was trying to connect with.  That’s just my personal preference.

As usual I ran some traffic number numbers on Alexa and here’s what I was able to find.

The United States makes up for 13.7% of Canoodle’s Traffic.

Zoosk.com might not be brand new, but it still is a relatively new online dating website.  I recently made a profile to check it out.  Here is what I found…..

The initial signup page includes entering your email address and password.  You are then emailed your activation link.  Once you click the link, you have to type in a verification code.  At first I thought this was annoying but after I thought about it, this is a good thing.  This makes it a little more difficult for spammers/bots to post fake ads on Zoosk and manipulate the website and it’s members.

After getting past the initial activation, you fill out the basic online dating profile questions.  One particular section I thought was good on Zoosk was the “Ice Breaker” question part.  You select several “Ice Breaker” questions for you dating profile.  These are on your page, and visitors can answer them for you to see their response.  I thought this was different and kind of cool.

As far as members go, I found a lot in my area.  Being in a highly populated city, this is expected.  I checked out some of the smaller towns around me and there seemed to be quite a few members there as well.  Zoosk does have a large international presence so even with 50 million online dating members, you might not find your city to have as many singles as you’d like.

Zoosk.com boasts of having over 50 million members, so of course, you have to pay to fully use the online dating service.  There are several options listed below:

1. $74.95 for 6 Months ($12.49/month)
2. $59.95 for 3 Months ($19.98/month)
3. $29.95 for 1 Month ($29.95/month)

Their prices really aren’t too cheap, especially since they aren’t as big as Match.com or Eharmony.com.  Let’s see where they stand in regards to traffic based on Alexa ratings.

Unites States makes up for 39.9% of Zoosk.com’s traffic.

Play Naughty’s traffic statistics (number of visitors) are not too great overall. When you break it down by country the site looks much more attractive depending upon where you live. Here is the breakdown:

• Global: 94,244
• United Kingdom: 4,029
• United States: 125,726

Hopefully their new US push will grow their presence here and they can start to compete.

I know a lot of those don’t fit the usualy description of sites we talk about here, but I thought it was interesting to see all the porn, dating, social networking, and otherwise, time wasting sites are in Egypt’s top 100. Also keep in mind about 1/3 of all the sites on there were in Indian, so Iwas unable to really read what they were about. So its a safe bet to say that there are probably at least 5 more on that list that are similar to the ones I listed above. What does this say? This lets Webmasters and dating sites /social websites know that the Egyptian market may not be a bad one to get after. They apparently are interested in interactive websites where they can chat, meet singles, and watch quite a bit of porn.

As with different cultures, you would expect different sites to appeal to other parts of the globe. That is not true for the most part. The majority of the most popular sites in the US and similar overseas. Popular sites in the UK include………
